The 2011 Honda PCX and Ruckus scooters

Author: Honda is bringing a new 125cc PCX scooter model to the United States, as an early 2011 model. American Honda also announced the return of the Ruckus as a 2011 model.
“We’ve enjoyed tremendous success with our line of scooters,” says Bill Savino, Honda’s powersports press manager, “and now along with the 2011 Ruckus we’re introducing the brand-new PCX, a very stylish 125cc scooter that adds even more depth to Honda’s scooter line.” Manufactured in Thailand, the Honda PCX was first introduced into the Asian market in autumn 2009. The electric-start PCX is powered by a liquid-cooled 125cc single-cylinder engine with Honda’s PGM-FI fuel injection system and V-Matic automatic transmission.
Honda has equipped the PCX with its Combined Braking System with a 220mm front disc brake with hydraulic three-piston caliper and a rear drum brake.
Americans however won’t get the “idling stop system” found on the PCX in other markets. The system stops the engine three seconds after the scooter comes to a stop to improve fuel economy. The engine restarts when the throttle is opened.
The seat can fit a rider and a passenger while the under-seat storage area can accommodate a full-face helmet.
The PCX’s fuel tank is located under the floorboard, offering a lower center of gravity. According to Honda, the PCX has a curb weight of 280 lb.
The 2011 Honda PCX scooter will be available in two colors, Pearl White and Candy Red. Pricing has not been announced.
American Honda also announced the return of the Ruckus as an early 2011 model. The Ruckus “naked scooter” was previously available as a 2009 model and remains unchanged except for two new colors, orange/black and black. The Ruckus will again be powered by a 49cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine and uses the V-Matic transmission. According to Honda, the Ruckus has a curb weight of 194 lb.
