The 2010 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Custom Review

For the 2009 model year, H-D transformed its venerable FLH line of touring bikes into vastly improved machines, thanks mostly to a much stiffer frame. Too bad that a slumping economy will cut into sales of the ’09 models.

However, this is still a huge market, and The Motor Company has already made a few tweaks to some of its popular touring models for 2010. We rode them around magnificent Colorado to find out how they work. Stay tuned also for a quick ride review of the new Electra Glide Ultra Limited luxury-tourer.As we learned from data shown to us at the Star Stratoliner Deluxe unveiling, the “casual full-dress” segment of touring cruisers is enjoying ever-increasing popularity, and this is largely due to Harley’s Street Glide and Road Glide. Both baggers are updated for 2010 and share a retail price of $18.999.

The 2010 Norton Commando 961 SE

2010 Norton Commando 961 SE
The 961 Commando SE represents a new beginning for Norton Motorcycles. Designed and built from the ground up, this bike continues the Norton legacy of defined style and performance.
This modern roadster reflects the soul of the original machine. Classic sculptural forms are combined with raw functionalism, laying beautiful shapes over a structural frame and muscular motor; resulting in a visual language that is both sensual and purposeful. With a very narrow waist and curves in just the right places, the 961 is a bike that feels as good as it looks.
Features and Specifications
Engine: Simple and direct engineering solutions are employed to create a motor that is visually and mechanically elegant; efficiently assembled in production, and easily maintained or upgraded in the owner’s garage.

2010 Moto Guzzi Stelvio ABS

Over the years, Moto Guzzi has developed a reputation as a conservative firm, renowned for producing unique machines that retain a traditional style and charm. Although set in their ways, you can’t accuse Italy’s oldest bike manufacturer of being slow to act or reluctant to listen to criticism. Not anymore, anyway.
Plenty of people who rode the 2009 Stelvio at its introduction last year commented on the bikes’ flawed power delivery, and Guzzi’s owners at the Piaggio Group listened. The Stelvio’s 1151cc, eight-valve twin was unbalanced and peaky, with a feeble midrange and a sudden surge of top-end power. Not the kind of power delivery you want for an adventure bike, least of all a big Moto Guzzi.

2010 Honda CRF450R

The Honda CRF450R has been at the head of the class pretty much every year since its introduction in 2002. As great as those bikes were, they were not without fault.
Year by year handling, engine and suspension issues were gradually ironed out. Then in 2009 Honda took a huge leap, introducing fuel injection and a revised engine, frame and suspension. We’re talking about a total rework here. KYB replaced Showa as suspension supplier, frame geometry was changed, the swingarm was lengthened and the plastic was updated. As such, nobody expected the 2010 model to have much more than bold new graphics, which it does have by the way.
